I want functionality and pretty to be married. They might fight a lot, but they really need to just work it out.
For the greater good of the household.
When we first bought the house, we used what we had on hand to create an entryway for all of our stuff.
It was functional. But it wasn’t pretty.
Some stripes on the wall.
A new pendant.
Things are starting to look sparkly.
I love sparkly.
We put up 6″ mdf around the entire perimeter of the family room at about 6′ high to ground the space with the super high ceilings. In the entryway, we used big screws through the mdf into the studs because we were putting 8 hooks along it for everyone’s jackets and bags.
You never know when a child might dangle from them. They need to be secure.
Hello Maskros.
I’m not even sure what to say here:
Yes. I married that man.
And those are Reese’s crazy eyes.
School room style hooks are great for active houses.

And after, yo’:
I’m still on the hunt for a cheerful rug and some more sparkly accessories, but the changes are good so far.
Enjoy!

I LOVE the light!!!!!
I LOVE it!!!! It looks so much better hanging in your entry than at the store!!!!
Lookin’ good! I wish I could be a little spy into the mind of yours, I can’t imagine how much overtime it works! ;)
Wow! What a difference. And your Husband’s ladder posed cracked me up!
I love that you went with that light, it’s so fun. I wish it would work somewhere in my house but I don’t have awesome ceilings like you do. And the stripes look pretty darn cool too. Maybe your husband can send mine some tips on doing projects for me around the house? He’s of the if it ain’t falling apart, leaking or rotting, don’t fix it camp. Drives me insaaaaane.
As usual…. you have great ideas and fabulous taste….
However, what always cracks me up is that most of the time your photos of your kids, are w/o pants. Do your monkeys run around in their underw*@r year round????
Came across your blog when I was looking for a little inspiration to re-do my entryway and now I’m hooked! I copied your entryway idea and absolutely love it!! Thanks for the great ideas!
Bethany, Thank you so much!!! :)
Oh, my… I was in entryway doldrums until I came upon this post and am totally inspired! What a great entry – I love how the stripes elevate the coats to little fabric works of art. Bravo! Bravo!
