the illuminated word : january

At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them and said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

- Matthew 18:1-3

I am feeling so energized by a photography project I am doing alongside several other photographers called The Illuminated Word.

We are using photography to capture God’s word and to show what scripture speaks to our hearts just in the every day.

I learn so much just by watching the kids. Even as unpredictable as their moods and emotions are, the fierce love that they can show for each other, their Daddy and for me even during what feels like my most ugliest moments, just fascinates me.

They don’t hold grudges for longer than 5 minutes, they forgive and forget in an instant and they give out hugs and squeezes so freely.

I want to love like they do.

Check out the awesome and talented Jennifer Carroll and the beauty she is capturing in the every day.

Tiffany, I hear you. I want to learn to talk to God like a child–with boldness, with tenacity, and with a stripped down honesty. I am looking foward to getting to know you better this coming year.

amen! I raise my hand to say amen. I watch Mac and admire his absoluteness in living so purely in his beliefs (whether he is right and wrong he lives with total conviction) and I can’t help but want to be like that – to never waiver and sway with the tides of trends, popularity, peer pressure, the ‘in’ thing but to continually live by forgiveness, faith, trust, honesty, hope . exactly. love this Tiffany, so glad you are here with us.

This is so true! I have learned so much about God and His love for us and how we should love after I had Mason. I remember God speaking to me while my son threw a tantrum one time because I wouldn’t give him candy. It broke my heart to watch him so upset over something I knew wasn’t good for him at the time. God gently reminded me that it breaks His heart too when He doesn’t answer our prayers how we expect and we have a “melt-down”. But that He too, as our Heavenly, Good, and Perfect Father knows what’s best for us and what gift He needs to withhold at that specific time.

NO WAY!!! I totally almost picked this scripture but saved it for next month! How funny! Great minds think alike….or maybe Mommys think alike! I love how much I learn from my children. I don’t think that we can completely understand the love our Father has for us…but having children certainly gets us a lot closer. Great post!

This is so true. Their love and just their being is so innoncent and pure. They haven’t been jaded by the world yet. So important to hold to that as long as possible.

oh how I wish to be more like a child in so many ways. Their innocence, their ability to just belive and trust. My kids amaze me daily also. Great post!

What a perfectly beautiful moment you captured! The love of a child is so pure, so trusting, so forgiving, so complete. It is a good reminder that we need to cultivate those attributes in our lives and in our relationship with our Heavenly Father.
